There are places where civilisation begins to speak in a whisper — because the Danube is doing all the talking. Vylkove is exactly that kind of place: a town where the streets are water, the “taxis” are boats, and cars seem slightly nervous about the competition that can actually float.
Vylkove is often called the Ukrainian Venice. But that comparison is a bit like calling Odesa “the Paris of the South”: flattering, perhaps, but far too modest. Here, you don’t need to go looking for romance — it glides right up to the house in a long boat. Narrow channels, wooden footbridges, houses hidden among greenery, and the unmistakable character of the Lipovan community — something no filter can fake.
And then comes the highlight — a water safari through the Danube Delta. The boat takes you to places where land no longer argues with water: corridors of reeds, living branches of the Danube, wide-open landscapes, birds and photos that turn out beautifully even for people who usually manage to capture “a finger by accident”. It’s the kind of day that leaves you saying not “that was nice”, but “we need to do that again”.

We Recommend Bringing
Dress comfortably and for the weather: comfortable shoes are a must, as the day includes not only bus travel but also walking at several stops. Bring water and, if needed, a hat — the sun outside the city tends to be even more direct. Keep in mind that it is always cooler on the water, so an extra layer can be useful even on a warm day. Make sure your phone is fully charged: beautiful views will appear far more often than power sockets. And you can leave the good mood at home — it usually shows up on its own along the way.

Frequently asked questions about the tour
Can I bring children?
Yes, as long as your child is comfortable with boat trips and a full day out. Life jackets and safety rules depend on the location and the boat operator’s requirements.
What if it’s windy or rainy?
The route may be adjusted for safety. Vylkove is beautiful even in “grey-movie” weather, but boat trips always depend on the conditions.
Do I need to bring any documents?
Absolutely.
Adults must bring passports, and children must have their birth certificates — this is required for the Danube Delta.
What is Vylkove — is it really the “Ukrainian Venice”?
Almost. Just without the gondoliers — and with real everyday life.
Here, canals take the place of streets, wooden footbridges replace pavements, and a boat is as ordinary a means of transport as a tram is for us.
How can I pay for the tour?
You can pay for the tour:
- online through our website
- by bank card transfer (our managers will send the payment details by SMS)
- in cash at our office,or directly to the guide during the tour
What are the cancellation and refund terms if your plans suddenly take a different turn?
We understand — life can be a bit like an Odesa tram, suddenly changing its route. If you cancel the booking yourself and let us know in advance, the refund will be as follows:
- 7 calendar days before the event — 100% of the full price will be refunded
- 72 hours before the event starts — 50% will be refunded
- 1 day before the event — 25% will be refunded
Where do we meet, and how do I know it’s our bus and guide — not just someone else standing there looking important?
The meeting point is listed on the tour page and in your booking confirmation. Please arrive 10–15 minutes early — that gives you enough time to find the group and still look like you were the first one there.
What should I wear and bring with me, besides a good mood (which is highly recommended too)?
Comfortable shoes are a must. Water is recommended. In summer — bring a hat and sun protection; in cooler seasons — a jacket suitable for the weather. If you’re planning to take lots of photos — charge your phone: Odesa knows how to fill up your memory fast.
